Growing up in Easton, Connecticut, Attorney Marvin Cable left for school and eventually planted roots in Northampton, Massachusetts.

Upon opening his own practice, in 2011, Cable joined the NORML (National Organization to Reform Marijuana Laws). He became one of the few lawyers on the front lines, advocating for legalization. Relatively speaking however, he was young to the cause, compared to his elders who had been fighting this fight for decades earlier.

Over the last ten years, Cable has jumped into the victory seat that legalization advocates fought for decades. Cable adds that he is “forever grateful for the persistence and determination of legendary advocates like Dick Evans, Dr. Grinspoon, Bill Dwight, and Steven Epstein,” who had impacted his career.

Above, Dick Evans, chair of the legalization campaign, gives his victory speech for legalization in Massachusetts, in 2016. Cable is recording it with his iPhone.

At the end of the speech, he discusses one of the most important parts of the legalization effort in Massachusetts – the yearly state police marijuana raids. Cable was lead counsel in the effort suing the state police, which many credit in tipping public opinion’s needle in favor of legalization.

From the passing of legalization in Massachusetts to present day, Cable has worked on a variety of projects including licensing for dispensaries, cultivation and manufacturing facilities, and many things cannabis.

Attorney Cable is now turning his sights on his home state. Cable will be engaging in partnering and fostering new relationships as he seeks his admission to the Connecticut bar.
